Communities of Agape

Purpose

The purpose of our website is to respond to the desires of Jesus’ Heart for small Communities of Love. We know it is now time for us to share the essentials we are called to integrated into our individual and our corporate lives as the body of Christ. The love we speak of is agape love.

For a meditation on this love we share this brief definition:

Definition of Agape Love

Agape love is the unconditional divine love in the Trinity that is poured out upon God's children through the merits of Jesus Christ and the Presence and ministry of the Holy Spirit. It is the love that Jesus manifested so beautifully throughout His life and especially His death. He spoke eloquently of this love found in the writings of the New Testament. These give us necessary insights into the need for this love in the life of every Christian believer.

This love is given to us freely because of the Father’s love and the offering Jesus made of His life for us. It permeates the whole person -- body, soul and spirit. It is with this love that we are commanded to love God and our neighbor because God first loved us. We know we have agape love when we love our Christian and non-Christian brothers and sisters as Jesus taught and modeled for us. St. Paul's Canticle of Love in 1 Corinthians 13 explains the qualities of this love as "charity in action". Agape love is the greatest of all spiritual gifts. We are well aware of our human neediness; thus we pray for agape love to increase daily in ourselves and others in His body, the Church.
A Community of Love is to be led by the Holy Spirit to develop a Biblical Spirituality for our lives to be lived with agape love, each in our own vocation. Men and women are singles, consecrated, or married, share together our way of living a spiritual life, a life which requires the leading and guidance of our inner spirit being oned to God the Father's desires, Jesus' death, resurrection and ascension and Holy Spirit's spiritual gifts and fruits. This is our everyday life-in-Christ. Each moment we can be empowered to live as Jesus would have it. The essence of agape love is woven into our various everyday lifestyles.
May the Sacred Heart of Jesus bless and guide you to form a small community for the purposes of His Heart. Your group responding to Him with agape love will enrich the whole Body of Christ, the Church.
